Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of badNerd — the website, the web app and the Chrome extension. Using any of them means you accept them. Last updated 11 August 2026.
Who we are
badNerd is an independent software project operated from Ukraine ("badNerd", "we", "us"). You can reach us at support@badnerd.app.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use badNerd. If you use it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.
Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to your email and sign-in method secure. Tell us promptly if you think someone else got in. Give us an address that reaches you — account recovery depends on it.
The service
badNerd is in active development. Features may change, be added, or be removed, and behaviour you rely on today may work differently tomorrow. It is currently free to use. We may introduce paid plans later; if we do, we will say so before anything you already use starts costing money, and the terms of any paid plan will be presented to you before you subscribe.
What you may not do
- Upload or generate content that is unlawful, infringing, malicious, or that you have no right to use.
- Attempt to breach, probe or overload the service, or access accounts and data that are not yours.
- Scrape the service, resell access to it, or use it to build a competing product.
- Use automated means to generate load far beyond ordinary personal use.
- Remove or work around any limit, gate or security measure in the product.
Your content stays yours
Everything you save, write, upload or generate in badNerd remains yours. We claim no ownership of it.
To run the service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process, transmit and display your content — strictly for operating and improving badNerd for you, including sending it to the providers listed in our Privacy Policy. This licence exists only for as long as we host that content: delete it, or delete your account, and it ends. We will not publish your content, sell it, or use it to train AI models.
You are responsible for having the rights to whatever you put in — including material you save from other websites — and for how you use what comes out.
AI-generated output
Summaries, flashcards, translations and chat answers are produced by AI models and can be wrong, incomplete or misleading. Every card links back to its source so you can check it. Do not rely on badNerd's output for medical, legal, financial or any other consequential decision without verifying it. You use it at your own judgement.
Third-party services
badNerd works with content and services we do not control — the sites and videos you save, sign-in providers, AI and translation providers. Their terms apply to them, and we are not responsible for their content, availability or conduct.
Our intellectual property
The badNerd software, design, name and logo belong to us. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service as offered — nothing more. The Chrome extension is licensed to you, not sold.
Availability
We make no promise of uptime, and we may suspend or discontinue the service, in whole or in part, at any time. Export your data with the Markdown export if it matters to you — and it does. We keep backups, but you should not treat badNerd as the only copy of anything you cannot lose.
Termination
You can stop using badNerd and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if your use endangers the service or other users, or if we discontinue the service — with notice where it is reasonably possible to give it. Sections that by their nature should survive termination do survive it.
No warranty
badNerd is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of output, or uninterrupted operation. Any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of your country are not affected by this section.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, for lost profits, or for lost or corrupted data. badNerd is currently provided free of charge; to the extent the law permits us to limit liability at all, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death, personal injury, fraud or gross negligence, and nothing limits the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes with them, and for material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use badNerd after that means you accept the new version; if you do not, stop using the service and delete your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Ukraine, where the service is operated, without prejudice to any mandatory protections available to you as a consumer under the law of your country of residence. We would rather solve a problem by email than in a courtroom — write to us first.
